Coach Bell has been married to his wife Lana since 1994. They have a son named Brandon and attend Trinity United Methodist Church in Phenix City, Alabama.

Coach Bell graduated from Zion Chapel High School in Jack, Alabama where he was an all-purpose player as a quarterback, receiver, safety, and kicker. He continued his playing career at Troy State University as a wide receiver and place kicker earning a degree in Physical Education.

Since college, Coach Bell has coached in Alabama at Russell County High School as a receivers and defensive backs coach and Smiths Station High School where he was the JV defensive coordinator.

In 1997, Coach Bell moved to LaFayette High School where he became the JV head coach putting together several winning seasons and built a JV powerhouse. In order to continue his upward climb, he moved to Notasulga High School in 2005 as offensive coordinator and took over the team as interim head coach with two games remaining in the 2008 season. He was named permanent head coach  later that year. He served as head coach for two full seasons rebuilding a devastated program. While the wins did not come as hoped for, the program was clearly on the rebound.

In 2010, Coach Bell earned a master's degree in Sports Management and started the Chattahoochee Valley Vipers and has compiled a 6-3 record. All three losses have come against paid professional teams while the Vipers used amateur players.
