The Chattahoochee Valley Vipers were created by Roland Bell in January 2010 as an eleven man outdoor team playing out of Phenix City, Alabama. In May of that year, Coach Bell made the tough decision to cancel the season as not enough linemen were on the roster.

Faced with the same problem in 2011, Coach Bell came up with a plan to make the switch to arena-style ball and find some teams to play exhibition against. He also contacted the SIFL to see if the league would scout these exhibition games.

Only a week later, the SIFL contacted the Vipers about filling in one game for one of its teams which had folded. The Vipers gratefully obliged and traveled to Huntsville to play the Alabama Hammers.

That first season the Vipers would win 4 exhibition home games while losing it's first indoor game. But, the players said they never had so much fun and were addicted. Additionally, four members of that team were offered professional contracts for the following season.

2012 saw the Vipers win two more home exhibition games and travel to play two more professional indoor teams in Chattanooga, TN and Pikeville, KY.

In October of 2012, the new AIFL contacted the Vipers about joining and we were on our way to an AIFL Championship. We also played 3 UIFL teams.

For the 2014 season, the Vipers were asked to become a travel team for the new X-League which includes the 3 former UIFL teams which the Vipers played in 2013.
